MCII Hopes to Ease Burden with Back to Basics Project and #MCIIpositif Campaign

In May 2020, we completed our Back to Basics project, an aid relief initiative aimed to help the lower B40 families affected by Movement Control Order (MCO), especially the families of students who go to our schools in Kapar and Pandamaran, Klang. In the span of one month, we distributed basic groceries, which include rice, cooking oil, sardine, instant noodle, turmeric powder, curry powder, salt, sugar, and flour to more than 1,400 families.

We would like to thank everyone for their support, especially our funder, Hong Leong Foundation, delivery partner, Impact Malaysia, on-ground coordinator, Mr Pardeep and fellow volunteers. We will continue to engage with PPD Klang, the schools, and the community to understand how we can further assist the students’ learning in this new normal.

In August 2020, we also launched #MCIIpositif campaign with the intention of creating a community that constantly learns from each other through this trying time. Here are some of our children’s #MCIIpositif stories that were shared

  • This is a Public Service Announcement (PSA) by our bright 8-year-old Savithara from SJKT Taman Sentosa on COVID-19. She is reminding us to wear masks, use sanitisers, and keep social distancing. Click here to watch the full video on our Facebook page.
  • Mohammad Shahril Hashim is an MCII alumni. He joined MCII’s programmes back in 2016 while he was studying at SMK Tengku Idris Shah, Kapar and soon became one of the exemplary students as well as leaders in the school. Let’s hear how he has benefitted from learning graphic design, video editing, and online meetings throughout MCO. He also shared how he values friendship, family and overall health more as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here to watch the full video on our Facebook page.
  • Movement Control Order (MCO) has helped exposed Nur Liyana Sofea from SK Kg Pendamar to online learning, thus, increasing her digital literacy. This 9-year-old student is grateful for the time she spends ‘vacationing’ at home with her family, especially with her newborn baby brother. Click here to watch the full video on our Facebook page.
