Dipti Kumar: A Reflection of 2020 and Moving Forward
2020 was a year with its challenges, and opportunities!
Beyond initiating solutions and conversations surrounding literacy, we were able to support our MCII community and schools through the Back to Basics project. We saw increased community engagement and ownership of learning at home. We heard many stories of leadership, hope and initiative during the unprecedented year which inspired us and kept us going – like the amazing students sharing their MCO learnings through the #MCIIpositif campaign.
We thank each of you for helping us and supporting our journey in enabling collective solutions to illiteracy.
MCII and partners have spent the last few weeks working closely with our schools to develop a cohesive plan for 2021 literacy interventions, pandemic-friendly and community-driven, with special focus on supporting schools’ capacities to drive improved literacy amongst MCII students. This year, we look forward to working with community leaders to activate self-leadership of literacy solutions. Given the uncertainties of physical distancing in the near future, we are working more closely with parents to enable virtual home literacy interventions and uninterrupted learning.
We would like to thank our steering committee members for always believing in us and to our existing partners, MyReaders, RITE Education and Chumbaka for continuously driving impact through our collaboration, and staying adaptive during such times.
We would also like to welcome on board, StudentQR, a student behavioural management platform, as we engage schools to develop an improved data collection and management platform for teachers.
As we grow, MCII is keen to expand and build on our collective foundations.
We are looking to onboard new members. If you (or an organisation you know) have funds for causes you believe in, believe in the literacy cause and appreciate our impact work, do get in touch!
